What is Omnivore?

Omnivore is a cloud-based, API software platform that easily and securely connects your point of sale (POS) system with the latest apps available in the market today. Using Omnivore API technology, restaurants can connect multiple locations and POS systems to multiple restaurant apps with a single POS integration. This allows restaurants to get new technology from idea to execution in a matter of days versus months.

We even have the Omnivore App Marketplace that allows you to view and connect with the latest hospitality Apps directly, in categories like: marketing & advertising, reservation & seating, delivery & takeout, guest & event management, mobile ordering, payment, labor and analytics.

What is an "API"?

API stands for "Application Programming Interface", which is a software intermediary that enables two or more applications to communicate with one another. APIs enable organizations to extract and share data in an accessible manner. Today, APIs are the foundation of many applications and technologies that we use on a daily basis — similar to the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

Is Omnivore PCI compliant? How do I know my data and PC are safe?

YES! Omnivore is certified by Coalfire, QSA to be compliant with the requirements of PCI-DSS v3.2 as a service provider. Our Attestation of Compliance (AOC) is available on request. This certification process involves a yearly audit of all policies, procedures, and systems within Omnivore to ensure full compliance with all 240+ discrete requirements.

All collected data is aggregated and anomalized without revealing specifics, such as store location or customer data.

Does Omnivore require additional hardware to connect to apps?

Omnivore does not require additional hardware for its agent, however, more memory and processing power on the POS system may be necessary. However, the amount of memory and processing power used is significantly less in comparison to running multiple integrations on your POS system.

Does Omnivore require additional software to connect to apps?

Only Omnivore's agent software is installed on the back-of-house POS server which will communicate with Omnivore's cloud services. Once installed, Omnivore then acts as a "middleware" to allow your POS software to communicate with multiple applications. Omnivore’s support team handles the installation ensuring the necessary configurations are setup to communicate with our agent.

How do restaurants get connected to apps?

The Omnivore App Marketplace is an app store showcasing the best restaurant technologies that integrate directly with the POS system. Within the Marketplace, restaurants can get more information and connect with app partner they are interested in.

The Omnivore Agent also helps restaurants bridge and integrate in-house development with their apps.

If there is an app you would like to see in the Marketplace, please Contact Us. It may already be available.
